Ludwig Voltz, 3 Chamois Heads

Frame-worthy fine study on light woven paper by the animal painter especially known for fair game and horses. Among these again and again chamois and red deer. While the father, Johann Michael, still worked as pastoral and genre painter, so already the older brother, Johann Friedrich whose pupil Ludwig was, added animal painting finally finding its expression in the younger. Since 1841 in Munich where he attended the Academy 1843-45. The hunting and also landscape motifs he searched in the Bavarian Alps, those of the horses in the stud-farms of the Thurn and Taxis and Wallerstein. – Mounted with the left margin on thin cardboard.
