“ Many thanks for your message. Thank you very much for sending the (Anthonie) Waterloo … I am grateful to you for the opportunity to buy the etching. It was interesting to learn about its provenance … The Waterloo etching arrived safely today, beautifully wrapped. Thank you very much indeed ”

(Mr. M. L., April 24 and 29 resp. and May 6, 2003)

“ The method you describe sounds excellent. Please proceed … ”

“ Received the (original Ridinger printing) plate yesterday. Much Thanks from a satisfied customer. You are a True Gentleman … All the Best! L… F. ”

(Mr. L. A. F., November 5, 2003)

“ Subject: Thanks!

Thanks for your kind reply. I wanted to comment that your thoughts on freedom (the quote that you had on the end of your message to me) are exactly the same as my beliefs.

I write, however, because I was surprised to get it from Europe … Although an American, almost all my early family were Huguenots … In fact, my relative, Jan C. is noted as the earliest C. to have arrived in N. America (in 1636, I think) … ”

(Herr K.-A. H., 2. Februar 2004)

“ The map was packaged very well and I am impressed about your professionally too. I look forward to having business with you again ”

(Sign. S. B. F., June 26, 2004)

“ I wish to thank you for the detailed, knowledgeable response. I am very impressed with your experience; your information was very helpful ”

(Mr. R. H. P., July 25, 2005)

“ I am so impressed by your (riding) website and the collections you offer!

I know this is a great thing to ask of you, I am hoping that in our mutual respect of equestrian heritage you will oblige … ”

(Mrs. B. F., October 24, 2007)

“ Stumbled upon your excellent website while researching Ludwig Beckmann, and must say that I was most impressed. In any case, since you are the closest I know to an authority on antique German books and prints I am wondering if you could help me pinpoint the origin of a piece I have in my dachshund collection … ”

(Mr. & Mrs. J. L., August 14, 2008)

„ bereits heute ist der Stahlstich der Harfe spielende Dame wohlbehalten bei mir angekommen und übertrifft meine Erwartungen weit. Als Berufsharfenistin werde ich sicher viel Freude an dem Bild haben. Mit ganz herzlichem Dank und freundlichen Grüßen “

(Frau C. K., 6. August 2016)

And how does niemeyer’s react if they think an item may ultimately not come up to the customer’s expectation ?

“ Yet I am not sure if I should suggest you purchasing this copy as I think you are – and rightly so – quite quality-aware about these things. Frankly, while optically appearing fine again the overall state of preservation is not up to our own general standard as also reflected by its price tag and the piece came into stock here only as part of a larger purchase. It probably would be in the better interest of both of us to wait for a perfect copy coming along.
Looking forward to hearing from you again, best regards … ”
