Kröner, Christian (Rinteln 1838 – Dusseldorf 1911). Forest Nobility. Herd of red deer driven onto a clearing by their master of 8 points, the deer mostly scenting in the direction of the beholder, but also grazing. Wood engraving by W. Postenrieder in the Xylographic Institute of Richard Brend’amour (Aix-la-Chapelle 1831 – Dusseldorf 1915) after the painting of 1869. (1873.) Inscribed: C. Kröner, 69. / X. A. v. Brend’amour / W. Postenrieder sc., otherwise in German as above. 27.5 x 18.4 cm. – Upper right corner torn off in the wide white margin.
