Hungary, Kingdom of, with Croatia, Slavonia, and the military border belonging to this. With simply designed cartouches for title, map distinction, signs and symbols + miles indicator. Map in 4 sheets by Friedrich Wilhelm Streit in steel engraving by Albert Rolle (Albert J. Rolle?; c. 1816 – before 1870) colored in outline. Berlin, Natorff, 1835. C. 23.5 x 31-31.5 cm.
The complete set per NW / SW / NE (with northern Transylvania) / SE (Transilvania with Klausenburg, Karlsburg, Hermannstadt + stud-farm Mezö Hegyos) to which for final completeness also the sheets Bohemia + Illyria belong. Opened up by any thinkable aspects as e.g. artificial roads with and without express posts , postal stations , country roads , channels , crossings , sluices , bridges , mineral sources, and just that already mentioned stud . – Due to oversize with ignorable, in two cases even smoothed longitudinal fold in the right outer margin. A bit marginal foxing, only the title sheet also in the area of the title-cartouche.
Died as retired Prussian Major in 1839 Streit is reckoned as one of the leading pioneers of modern surveying which ultimately was a matter of only the 2nd half of the century. The value of his maps lies in their working like strategic maps as reliable, most richly exploited traffic maps.
