Mieris, Frans van (1635 Leiden 1681). (Mieris’ Study.) Sitting at the easel and talking with the lady in a white satin gown whose portrait he has almost completed. In the background a servant. In front left at the wall a cello. The picture discloses under a raised curtain as the symbol of the secret and transitory.
