Le Petit, Alfred (painter, lithographer, journalist, and chansonnier; Aumale 1841 – Levallois-Perret 1909). M. Vor. Hugo. embedded into wild rose, “L’Églantine”, from whose thicket “Les ch(â)timents” strike the monarch crawling after his crown like lightning. At the same time a Ghoul reaches out for monarch and crown, too. Hugo’s head, however, up from the eyes a ball of lights. Colored lithograph. Inscribed: Alfred Le Petit 22 Mars 1871., otherwise as above and below resp. 25 x 13.5 cm.
