“ Since his resignation Everhard Theodor l’Arronge (also Eduard Theodor l’A., 1812-1878), the formerly so popular comic actor at the old royal city, has held the direction of the theaters at Aix-la-Chapelle, Danzig, Dusseldorf, Elberfeld, Bonn, and on the stage his humor has held. In drastic-comic effect, paired with a deeper geniality, l’Arronge still is the same, and how he knows not only to amuse, but also to touch, of this his performance of the ‘old hurdy-gurdy man’ in whose character he appears here provides the most thorough proof. ”
