French Noblewoman. Middle of the XVIIth Century. Standing to the left, looking to the right, with closed fan in her left. Colored wood engraving by/at Richard Henkel in Leipsic after Otto Brausewetter (Saalfeld/East Prussia 1835 – Berlin 1904). (1881.) Inscribed: O. Br. / R. Henkel XA., otherwise in German as above & below. 7¾ × 5⅛ in (19.8 × 13 cm).

Lipperheide Ad 46. – SHEETS FOR COSTUME KNOWLEDGE NEW SERIES 86. – Brausewetter was pupil of the Academy in Königsberg and, after stations in Frankfort/Main & Munich, active there again and in Danzig 1860-1869, before he settled in Berlin where he was professor at the Academy since 1882. His particular attention focussed on historical themes.
