Engraving by Robert Benard (Paris 1734 – after 1777, recte rather c. 1786) from the quarto edition of the encyclopedia by Diderot and d’Alembert. (1786.) Inscribed: Benard direxit., otherwise as above. 8⅝ × 7 in (22 × 17.8 cm). – Figurative watermark fragment. – On the left trimmed within the wide white platemark and somewhat unclean from former stitching.
