Engravings by Robert Benard (Paris 1734 – after 1777, recte rather c. 1786) from the quarto edition of the encyclopedia by Diderot and d’Alembert. (1786.) Inscribed: Pl. 1-3. / Benard direxit(.), otherwise as above. 9⅜-9½ × 7¼-7⅜ in (23.8-24 × 18.3-18.6 cm).

Instructive  set. – Typograph. watermark. – On the left trimmed within the wide white platemark and a little unclean from former stitching. – Upper left really faint tidemark reaching up to the lining.
