The standard work on the legendary period of German literature. – From the libraries Friedrich Meyer (industrialist in Dinslaken, d. 1932, from the wellknown Lower Rhenish family company founded in 1761, his stamp on title) and Siegfried Bißlinghoff. By the latter name and some sketches in pencil on the fly-leaves. – The inner book not more quite solid, on the whole a little time-marked.

Brothers  Mann  treated on pages 11, 74-85 (Heinrich Mann’s Development from Renaissance Writer to the Central European Democrat), 157, 174, 325, 364 + 838 with illustrations pp. 75 (full-page portrait of Willi Geiger), 78 (Ludwig von Hofmann’s “Dragon-Fly” to the novella “The Miraculous”), 79 (portrait from the Kurt Wolff almanac 1917) + 79 (Kollwitz illustration to “The Poor”) as well as manuscript of the closing of the novel “The Head” p. 83 (Heinrich) and pp. 74, 81, 802 + 838 (Thomas) resp.
