Left his Mama grieving :Vilshofen’s Famous-Notorious RunawayHeinrich LautensackKubin, Alfred (Leitmeritz 1877 – Zwickledt 1959). (Memorial Tablet for the tragic death of the respectable and chaste maiden Helena Asen – pray for her.) Pen lithograph. (1926.) Inscribed in German as before. 22.7 x 19 cm.
The macabre-beautiful flag illustration as one of the seven plate lithographs without text on the back to Heinrich Lautensack’s “Unpaar” (Horodisch 85; Marcks A 82; Otte-Raabe 301), illustrated, too, in Kristl, Bekenntnis zum sündigen Fleisch – H. Lautensack, BBl. f. d. Dt. Buchh. Frankfort ed. 1975, p. A181, and of notorious rareness as “ A large part of the edition has been destroyed in the Second World War ” (Horodisch). Here from one of the 250 unsigned copies of the normal edition (total edition 300 copies) – Evenly lightly browned with fine tape of former framing running round on the back.

Coming Along. On the table carafe and glasses. 20 x 16.5 cm. – On the front side with yet only quite weak light tone, otherwise with the mentioned tape on the back.
Bath in the Garret. 20 x 15.5 cm. – As before.
View from the Castle. The landscape is shown to the aging prince. 19.5 x 17 cm. – Impeccably fresh, just with the fine tape on the back.
