Herring Sen., John Frederic (Surrey 1795 – Meopham Park 1865). Evening. Horses ridden to the village’s pond for watering after the day's work. On the right building and sheds of an estate. With rich tree accessories, ducks at and on the water, and a bird flight. Coloured aquatint by J. Harris (John Harris II, c. 1791-1873?). 1849. 55.8 x 72.5 cm.
Herring’s Farm Scenes. – With drystamp of the publisher Gambart, London. – Several backed tears in the white plate margin, one of which reaching slightly into the image. A separate tear in the picture’s border itself, too. Here and there somewhat rubbed, but barely disturbing. Three sides trimmed within the white plate margin. – After Herring’s painting of 1848.
