Potter, Paulus (Enkhuizen 1625 – Amsterdam 1654). A Group of Horses with a Peasant and his dog. Four animals, one of which resting. At the horizon steeple. Etching with rich aquatint by Johann Heinrich Tischbein II (Haina, Hesse, 1742 – Cassel 1808). (1787.) 19.7 x 25.4 cm.
Nagler, Tischbein, maybe 30. – Plate 2 of the 1827 Tischbein set Nagler 45 as a compilation mounted in points of throughout old till earlier impressions. – Trimmed on platemark. – From the collection of the legendary railway king Dr. Strousberg, Berlin. – Sujet “ from the famous painting … at Cassel … (called) the Pissing Cow “, so Nagler, accountuing it together with the pendant of the Group of Horned Cattle of the picture (14,897) to the most exquisite sheets by Tischbein . The latter, court painter of the Landgrave of Hesse, was inspector of the Cassel gallery, most famous for the splendid collection of Dutch paintings.
