The furious sheetRidinger, Johann Elias (Ulm 1698 – Augsburg 1767). The Boar Hunt. Inscribed: XII / E. Ridinger exc., otherwise as before in German along with the address of the Art Establishment of the Bibliographical Institute. 20.2 x 24 cm.
The furious sheet – “There the poor hounds suffer awfully, the boar rages badly among them …” (Thienemann) – in the same direction after Ridinger (Th. 144, sheet VI of the The Fair Game Hounded by the Different Kinds of Hounds; also available here Hermann Menzler’s toned lithograph of the sujet) and of the same size of the picture, too, only in the upper closing field the tree staffage ends earlier, whose branches projecting into the subject additionally varying. – With the wide white platemark not measured with, as rather more seldom for steel engravings, nevertheless above + below trimmed nearly up to its edge. Otherwise with the left-sided stitch margin.
