Rome. From the Cloister Garden of S. Sabina on the Aventin. Central view with St. Peter in the set back middle field and before mountain scenery. At the foot of the Aventin the Tiber with bridge. Right in front wine loggia with resting nun together with hen with its chicks. Toned wood engraving after Karl Lindemann-Frommel (Markirch, Alsace, 1819 – Rome 1891) at Adolf Cloß, Stuttgart. (1876.) Inscribed: Lindemann=Frommel, otherwise in German as above. 19.5 x 24.8 cm. L.-F. was pupil of his adoptive father C. L. Frommel in Karlsruhe with subsequent studies in Munich (Rottmann) and Paris. Following his stay at Rome 1845/49 the final emigration in 1856.
