François Stroobant, Screen in Aerschot Church

Boetticher II/2, 855. – “Belgian architectural painter … known by works and drawings to art history, especially of his homeland.  Several  drawings  lithographed  by  himself .” So  the  presemt  one , too .

“ The sandstone church (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwkerk) is an excellent example of Demer Gothic, a regional variation of Brabantine High Gothic.

Finest  piece  of  furnishing  is  the  rood  screen

from the 16th cent. created in Flamboyant, crowned by a late-Gothic cruzifix ”
