A Couple of Badgers in their Sett. “Sleeping the one, growling the other” (Th.) – With references to “Ducts or Passages / The Chamber / The Badger’s Sucking Hole”. Colored etching with engraving. (1740.) Inscribed: J. E. Ridinger inv. fec. et exc. A. V. / N. 78., otherwise in German as above. 7⅜ × 6 in (18.7 × 15.1 cm).

Thienemann & Schwarz 468. – Plate 78 (in later edition 75) of the instructive set Design of Several Animals ( “These plates are much wanted and frequently copied”, Th. 1856). – Impression of the 1st edition on fine laid paper. – Colored by later hand in attractive fitting palette as quite unusual for original impressions.
