Ridinger, Johann Elias (Ulm 1698 – Augsburg 1767). Otter consuming a Prey. With fish on a boulder at the foot of a waterfall. Colored etching with engraving. (1740.) Inscribed: J. E. Ridinger inv fec. et exc. A. V. / N. 82., otherwise in German as above. 7⅜ × 6 in (18.8 × 15.2 cm).

Thienemann & Schwarz 472. – Plate 82 (in later edition 79) of the instructive set Design of Several Animals ( “These plates are much wanted and frequently copied”, Th. 1856). – Impression of the 1st edition on fine laid paper. – Colored by later hand in attractive fitting palette as quite unusual for original impressions.
