James Duffield Harding, St. Goar + Rheinfels

Rheinfels – St. Goar – Harding, James Duffield (Deptford, Kent, 1797 – Barnes, Surrey, 1863). St. Goar on the Rhine. Rheinfels Castle together with some houses of St. Goar. On this bank rich baggage scenery, among it chatting woman beside their laundry panniers. On the Rhine the rare form of two high-boarded house-boats joined alongside. Colored lithograph printed with tone plate after own travel sketch from August 1834. Inscribed: Aug. 1834. J. D. H., otherwise as above. 6½ × 10⅝ in (16.4 × 26.9 cm).
