William Hogarth, Perseus & Andromeda

Two works of 1730 on one plate. See in analogy to these also the two for Milton. – Cook “made his mark as Hogarth engraver, too” (Thieme-Becker); present sujets, however, he has treated supposedly for the first time only in the small edition of the years 1806/09 following his folio edition. Here as joint work with his son. – Trimmed within the wide white platemark feebly brown-touched on three sides.
